Rider: Sam Cunningham

Sam Cunningham, also known as “The Boogie Man”, was a legendary skateboarder who rose to fame during the 1970s. He was famous for his unique style, which involved a combination of freestyle and vertical skateboarding. Cunningham was particularly known for his creativity, and he was one of the first skaters to incorporate dance moves into his routine.

As a Professor of skateboarding, I believe it’s important for students to know about the pioneers of the sport, like Cunningham. Not only did these skaters lay the foundation for modern skateboarding, but they also helped shape the cultural significance of the sport. By studying the history of skateboarding, we can gain a better appreciation for the art of skateboarding and understand how it has evolved over time.
