Paul Shier is a professional skateboarder from the UK who played a part in setting the standard for what it meant to be a “professional” skateboarder from the UK in the truest sense of the word. He was born in Croydon, just to the south of London, and began skating at the age of 13 after seeing ‘some kid at school’ with a neon blue and pink Rob Roskopp. He secured his first sponsorship deal at the age of 21.
He was also an integral part of Blueprint – the company and its videos – which bridged a transatlantic divide, in turn broadening the reach and opportunities for other European skateboard companies. In early 2013, he joined forces with old friend and former Blueprint teammate Nick Jensen to form Isle Skateboards, an experimental skate/art collective.
